Al jebleen massacre

Al Jebleen Massmurder

It was on the 28th December 1989 in a town called Aljebleen where one of the uglies mass murders took place. About two thousand innocent Southern Sudanese were killed by Arab Militia. These militia are trained and armed by the government to help her fight the SPLA in the south.

Like most previous attacks and similar incidents in Southern Sudan, the government in Khartoum first tried to make the massmurder look like a small accident. Government spokemen told the nation that only two hundred people were killed. Reports later proved that the victims were almost ten times more than what the government had previously said.

It all began when an Arab landlord asked his workers, then on their Christmas holidays, to get back to work. The workers refused to go back because they were on holidays. A fight broke out and the landlord was killed. Those who killed the landlord were arrested by the police.

Unfortunately, our story does not end with the arrests. The arrest did not satisfy the Arab militia. So that night, they took their weapons and started killing any Southern Sudanese men, women and children they saw. Some women were raped before they were brutally murdered. Some ran toward the town police station seeking protection but all in vain; they were shot there in front of the police who did nothing whatsoever to stop the killings.

Up to 2 thousand dead and no single Arab militia has been brought to trial!
